There’s a new goal that several luxury automakers are trying to hit, and only three have done it so far. We already showed you the absolutely insane Koenigsegg Regera, and now, Scandinavian auto company Toroidion has joined the club.
You’re probably wondering what club that is. Well, it’s a mighty impressive, very exclusive club. It’s reserved only for “megacars” – that is, cars that have been able to crack one megawatt of power, equivalent to 1341bhp.
Just unveiled at the Monaco Top Marques show, the Toroidion MW1 is now a member of the megawatt club, putting out the requisite 1341 bhp. And the real kicker here is that the Toroidion MW1 is fully electric. Yes, all that power comes in a plug-in package.
The Toroidion MW1 remains a one-of-a-kind concept at the moment, and the company’s CEO says widespread production (if it ever happens) would be at least three years off in the future. However, if the MW1 ever does get mass-produced, we have a lot to be excited about.
The MW1 is claimed to have a top speed of approximately 300 miles per hour, which would instantly make it one of the fastest cars known to man. Each wheel operates on its own electric motor, allowing unprecedented control and power.
On the exterior, the car is built in an extremely aerodynamic fashion, taking many design elements from Aston Martin, Volkswagen, and others. The interior lacks the flash of a Tesla or Lamborghini to be certain, as it features no touch screens and infotainment systems…it just packs in a ton of speed and power.
The future of automobiles is moving ever-faster towards the electric direction, and vehicles like the Toroidion MW1 go to show that even without gas-burning muscle, cars can still be plenty powerful and FAST.
Look for more cars to join the one megawatt club soon, but for now, the Toroidion MW1 holds the unique distinction of being the only fully-electric car to reside in the echelon of one megawatt vehicles.
Let’s see if anyone else tries to challenge that title.
