Koenigsegg is known for creating some of the world’s most insane supercars, namely the previously-discussed Regera, and the earth-shattering, record setting One:1, which is what we’ll be focusing on today. That is because the Koenigsegg One:1 just set the new world record for a lap by a street-legal production car, besting the previous record by over a full second. The previous record holder? That would also be the Koenigsegg One:1. Clearly, Koenigsegg is onto something truly special with this beastly car, which continues to set the standard for modern day hypercars.
The One:1 is also the current record-holder when it comes to doing 0 – 300 km/hr, with a stunning time of 17.95 seconds. It took only a fraction longer for the car to also set the 0 – 200 mph record on the same test run. With 1340 horsepower and an equally-impressive weight of just under 3,000 pounds, the Koenigsegg One:1 is an absolute monster, with one of the most insane power-to-weight ratios you’ll ever see. Accordingly, it’s no wonder that this Swedish speed demon continues to carve out its place in history.
Despite the impressive numbers the Koenigsegg One:1 continues to record, if you listen to the company, they’re not close to done yet. Executives were pleased with the performance, but were quoted as stating that they have “plenty of room for improvement.” So keep your eyes peeled for future iterations of the Koenigsegg One:1 to obliterate the past records even further.
The Koenigsegg One:1 is certainly not available for you to buy right now, but don’t worry – the asking price would obviously be insane anyway. However, it is still an exciting development whenever a car shatters the performance numbers that we previously had thought to be at the upper limit of what cars are capable of achieving. Koenigsegg continues to set that bar higher, and you can bet they’ll continue to do so in the future.
