The 5 Rarest Cars in the World (Photos)

By on April 11, 2014

Knowing that millions of people all over the world own the same sedan as you is kind of comforting–it makes you feel less bad about choosing your model over another. After all, if it’s good enough for millions, it’s gotta be good enough for you, right?

But what if only four other people in the world had the same car as you? Or 3? Or 2? Or what if yours was the only one in existence? That would be pretty amazing, too.

If you ever wondered what those rarest of rare cars are like, here’s a rundown of 5 of the absolute scarcest vehicles in the world today.

5 of the Rarest Cars on the Planet

#5 Bugatti Veyron Pur Sang

There will only ever be 300 Bugatti Veyron cars manufactured, but the Pur Sang (or “Pure Blood”) model is even more exclusive: there are only 5. And those 5 sold out within twenty-four hours of their unveiling, despite a sky-high price tag of approx. $2 million.

The Pur Sang is an incredible feat of modern engineering, both in style and performance. The exterior features a diamond-cut glass-like finish, giving it an out-of-this-world glossy look. The body is crafted from carbon fiber.

And talk about sheer power. The Bugatti Veyron features an 8-Liter, W16, quad turbo-charged engine capable of producing top speeds of over 250 miles per hour. It can go from 0-60 in less than 2.5 seconds and 0-150 in less than 10 seconds.

Not only is the Pur Sang an extremely rare vehicle, it’s also an extraordinarily powerful one.

#4 2010 Pagani Zonda Cinque Roadster

Like the Pur Sang, there are only 5 Pagani Zonda Cinque Roadsters in existence. Getting your hands on one would cost you at least $1.8 million.

So what does the Cinque (French for “5”) have to offer aside from scarcity and the look of a race car? Well, it’s fantastically powerful, for one thing. It features an AMG-sourced V12, 678-horsepower engine. It’s also built with a carbon fiber body, making it lightweight enough to get from 0-60 in approx. 3.5 seconds and 0-125 in approx. 9.6 seconds.

And it has no roof.

This is certainly far from a practical car, but the Pagani Zonda Cinque Roadster wasn’t built for practicality. It was built for speed, for style, for grace, and almost pure weightlessness. It’s a beauty of a car and made even more beautiful by its utter rarity.
