#4 2014 Dodge Dart

For a compact sedan, the 2014 Dodge Dart sure offers a lot of interior space.

Most cars in its class sacrifice cabin room in an effort to minimize overall weight and size (and therefore fuel usage), but Dodge has continually found a way with the Dart to offer both comfort and economy.

The 2014 Dart also features 2.4-liter, 4-cylinder, 184-horsepower engine that used to only be found in the GT but has since become a standard trim level, which is a great upgrade in terms of overall power.

With plenty of leg room, plenty of oomph, and better-than-decent mileage, the Dodge Dart is an affordable and worthwhile investment for new car buyers.

In Brief:

  • MPG – 25 city / 36 highway
  • Seats – 5
  • Engine – 2.4-Liter, 4-Cylinder
  • Horsepower – 184
  • Style – Sedan

MSRP: Starting at $17,490

#3 2015 Ford F-150

The F-150 has been a mainstay in the world of American-made trucks for a long time, but it’s finally received the complete makeover most of us have been wishing for.

The 2014 model has a whole new look and a lighter-weight body that gives a much needed booster shot to this model’s overall performance and fuel economy.

It still has that chunky-looking front-end that most folks associate with the heavy-duty F-150–and the same recognizable headlight design, too–but shows off a brand new body for 2014.

A slightly wider construction combined with thinner doors expands the cabin room by about 2 inches (mostly added to the space between driver and passenger seats) which is also an improvement we’ve been waiting for.

Not to say the F-150 has ever felt cramped, per say, but any additional interior space in a pickup like this is well and truly appreciated. With a 3.5-liter, V6 engine with an estimated 360 horsepower, the new model maintains the F-150’s reputation for good old-fashioned American muscle, but the new additions make it even more attractive than those mighty models that came before it.

In Brief:

  • MPG – Not Available
  • Seats – 5
  • Engine – 3.5-Liter, V6
  • Horsepower – 360 (estimated)
  • Style – Truck

MSRP: To Be Determined
