#6 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport

There are a couple options for Hyundai Santa Fe Sport models (the Sport and the Sport 2.0T), but they both feature a 2.4-liter, 190 horsepower engine and a six-speed auto-transmission.

In other words, they’ve both got some oomph.

The Santa Fe Sport received a huge number of five-star ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), as it performed incredibly well in both the Overall Rating and Overall Frontal Barrier Crash Rating. Clearly, the Santa Fe Sport is both a safe vehicle and a practical car for all sorts of drivers.

Santa Fe 1

The Hyundai Santa Fe Sport is a zippy little car with plenty of interior storage/leg room that will keep the whole family safe. Sounds like a good deal.

MSRP: $26,700

#5 Mazda CX-5

Mazda 1

The Mazda CX-5 has been turning a lot of heads lately. It was named #2 (out of 22) in “Affordable Compact SUVs” by the U.S. News and World Report. It also ranked #3 in “Affordable Crossover SUVs.”

But there’s much more to the CX-5 than affordability.

It handles so smoothly and easily that drivers may have a hard time remembering they’re in an SUV when they find themselves cruising around town, or cornering on highways.

It also has noteworthy fuel economy–the basic front-wheel drive gets 26 mpg city / 35 mpg highway and the auto all-wheel drive gets about 24 mpg city / 30 mpg highway.

The interior isn’t particularly flashy, but it does have an attractive modern design. The CX-5 features soft-touch dashboard and metallic trimming with the option for leather seats (for a few more bucks, of course).

MSRP: $29,070
