Check Out the Epic Ford “Apollo Edition” Mustang

By on July 17, 2015

Oh, American technological innovation. It’s what gave us the first cars. It’s what got us to the moon. And now, it is what is giving us a combination of those two things, as Ford has released a one-off Mustang in honor of the Apollo moon missions. This car is certainly not going to come to a dealership near you anytime soon, but it’s still worth taking a look at here because it is incredibly cool and undoubtedly unique.

Ford produced this “Apollo Edition” Mustang specifically for the upcoming 2015 EAA AirVenture Oshkosh fly-in, an airshow for which Ford has produced special, custom cars for the last five years. Some of the past models have been designed in honor of everything from the Tuskegee Airmen to several United States fighter jets; however, this Apollo Mustang just might be the coolest car yet.

With bright orange under-lights and USA symbols emblazoned on the sides, this Ford Mustang holds its own with the spacecrafts it was inspired by. You won’t be able to find rocket propulsion here, but that’s about the only thing that could make this car more awesome.

Even without rocket power, the Mustang GT is still plenty powerful, with its 627 horsepower. Plus, the engine of this car revving still conjures up images of rocket launches and extreme speed anyway. This special car also features a special black and white paint job that is designed to look like the Apollo spacecrafts, carbon-fiber splitter and rocker treatments, and LED underbody lighting that gives you the illusion of both liftoff and atmospheric reentry.

The Ford Apollo Edition Mustang is for sale, if you have a ton of money and if you happen to be in Wisconsin in the next week. This one-of-a-kind car will go up for auction at the EAA AirVenture Oshkosh fly-in, and the previous custom Mustangs have fetched a total of over $7 million, all of which is donated to charity.

If you don’t happen to be a Wisconsin resident and a millionaire, I guess you, along with the rest of us, will have to admire this awesome, space-inspired Mustang from the comfort of your living room.
